Preparing for your first visit with our team is simple. Before your appointment, please complete any necessary patient forms and gather information about your dental history, current medications, allergies, and dental insurance. If you have recent dental records or X-rays from another practice, we may ask that they be sent to our office.
It can also help to make a list of any questions or concerns you would like to discuss with Dr. Chang. If you have dental anxiety, a sensitive gag reflex, or concerns about discomfort, please let us know before your appointment. We are here to help, and there is never a need to feel embarrassed or judged about your dental history.
What Will Happen During Your First Dental Visit?
Your first appointment gives us an opportunity to get to know you and learn about your oral health. We will begin by discussing your dental history, concerns, goals, and any symptoms you may be experiencing. Our team will also perform a comprehensive evaluation of your teeth, gums, bite, and overall oral health as well as a routine cleaning.
Diagnostic imaging may be recommended as well to give us a more complete understanding of your dental health. If treatment is needed, we will explain what we find in clear, straightforward language and discuss your options. Our goal is not to pressure you into treatment but to make sure you understand your oral health and can make informed decisions about your care.
A Comfortable, Judgment-Free Dental Experience
We understand that visiting the dentist can be difficult for some patients. Previous dental experiences, fear of discomfort, or simply being nervous about an appointment can make it harder to seek care.
If you are anxious about treatment, let us know. We can discuss sedation options and other ways to help you feel more relaxed. Dr. Chang can explain each step before proceeding and give you the opportunity to ask questions throughout your visit. If it’s helpful to schedule appointments during certain times, take breaks during treatments, or take a tour of the office before your first visit, we will accommodate you to the best of our abilities.
